The Ästhetik am Isartor practice works under the medical direction of Dr. Fabian Weinschenk, specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery (Facharzt). Safety rests on medical qualifications and chamber membership, on the informed consent required by § 630e BGB (the German Civil Code), on a clinical indication being established, and on transparent starting prices with a written cost estimate.

How do you recognise a reputable cosmetic surgeon?

Three hard criteria — all three verifiable, all three binding.

   The Facharzt title

   The designation „Facharzt für Plastische und Ästhetische Chirurgie“ (specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery) is protected under professional law in Germany. It requires a completed degree in medicine and six years of specialist training — verifiable with the Bayerische Landesärztekammer (BLÄK).

2. 02.

   Membership of a scientific society

   Membership of one of the established professional societies — DGPRÄC, GÄCD or VDÄPC. These associations enforce strict admission criteria, ethical standards and a continuing duty to undertake further training.

3. 03.

   Transparent informed consent

   No sales pressure, no promises about results, no „free consultation“ (not permissible under the BLÄK professional code, the Berufsordnung). Medical informed consent is a medical service — it is chargeable (€100), given in person and documented in writing.

The difference

Facharzt vs Heilpraktiker.

Different professional groups work in the German market for aesthetic treatments. The difference is not semantic — it concerns training, responsibility and the permitted scope of treatment.

At the Ästhetik am Isartor practice, all treatments — surgical and non-surgical — are carried out exclusively by specialist doctors. Botox and hyaluronic acid treatments are medical services too, with an indication established, the mandatory active-substance information under § 8 HWG (the German Health Advertising Act) and documented informed consent.

• How do you recognise a reputable cosmetic surgeon in Munich?+

• What distinguishes a Facharzt in plastic surgery from a Heilpraktiker?+

  The Facharzt für Plastische und Ästhetische Chirurgie has completed a degree in medicine and six years of specialist training in plastic-surgical procedures; in professional law he answers to the Bayerische Landesärztekammer (BLÄK). Heilpraktiker — non-medical practitioners — with a focus on „aesthetic medicine“ have no medical training in the clinical sense; they may not carry out surgical procedures and their scope of treatment and of prescribing is restricted. At our practice all procedures — surgical and non-surgical — are carried out exclusively by specialist doctors.

• What duty to inform applies before an aesthetic treatment?+

  Before every treatment — surgical and non-surgical alike — medical informed consent is required by law (§ 630e BGB, and § 8 HWG for the mandatory active-substance information). We hold the informed-consent consultation in person, documented in writing and chargeable (€100) — as a medical service, not a sales conversation. Risks, alternatives, realistic expectations of the result and individual contraindications are discussed.

• Are Botox and hyaluronic acid treatments safe?+

  Used properly by a specialist, with an indication established, yes. We use exclusively CE-certified preparations licensed in the EU; the mandatory active-substance information under § 8 HWG is handed out during the consultation. Risks (swelling, haematoma, very rarely infection or vascular occlusion) are documented; a preliminary examination rules out contraindications. A free consultation would not be permissible under professional law — informed consent is a medical service.

• How is data protection (GDPR) ensured at the practice?+

  Patient data is processed in compliance with the GDPR: data minimisation, purpose limitation, storage limitation, documented data processing agreements with third parties (practice software, hosting). A privacy policy setting out all processing purposes can be found in the legal notice. Please address requests for access, correction and erasure directly to the practice.

• Where can I verify the memberships and qualifications?+

  Memberships can be verified in the online directories of the professional societies concerned (DGPRÄC, GÄCD, VDÄPC). The medical licence (Approbation) can be looked up through the Bayerische Landesärztekammer (BLÄK).
