The skin quality decides. With mild to moderate laxity and good skin elasticity, liposuction with Renuvion is enough — through the fine incisions of the liposuction the helium plasma tightens the skin from within, with no visible longitudinal scar. Where laxity is pronounced or the skin quality poorer, the classic brachioplasty with a longitudinal incision on the inner side is the more suitable choice. We assess the skin quality clinically in the initial consultation (€100).

With the classic brachioplasty a longitudinal scar remains on the inner upper arm between the armpit and the elbow — it does, however, fade markedly over one to three years. Patients three years after the operation report consistently that the scar is practically never commented on in everyday life. With liposuction and Renuvion, barely visible scars remain.

Sporting activity is possible again after 3-4 weeks, following consultation. In the first 2 weeks the arms must be treated strictly gently — no lifting movements above the head, no heavy objects. You wear the compression arm sleeves for 6 weeks day and night.

Yes. With the classic brachioplasty, liposuction of the upper arms is part of the operation — useful where a fat pad as well as the excess skin has to be contoured. With liposuction and Renuvion, the aspiration is an integral part of the procedure in any case.

6 weeks day and night (removing it only to shower). The compression arm sleeves reduce swelling, shape the tissue and are an essential part of the surgical result — with the classic variant as well as with liposuction and Renuvion.

The first contours become visible after 3-4 weeks. The final result stabilises after 3 to 6 months, once all swelling has subsided. With the classic variant the scar matures over 1-3 years until it has faded as far as it will.

On purely aesthetic grounds, no. After massive weight loss with documented functional complaints (for example recurrent skin inflammation at the armpit), an individual case review can make sense — the application is prepared with you.

For two reasons — one legal, one ethical. First, the German Heilmittelwerbegesetz (§ 11 HWG, the Health Advertising Act) prohibits advertising surgical plastic procedures with before-and-after photographs on publicly accessible websites — a rule in force since 2012 that protects patients from distorted promotional depictions. Second, we respect our patients' privacy: even where written consent exists, many would rather intimate photographs of their body did not circulate on the open web. What you can expect instead: in the personal initial consultation (€100) we show you anonymised examples from our own practice documentation — matched to your indication, your build and your aesthetic goal. Those images are shown with the written consent of the patients concerned, exclusively within the protected setting of the consultation, and are never published online. You get a realistic sense of what to expect without anyone having to give up their privacy for someone else's advertising.

Three objective criteria help you get your bearings. First, the specialist qualification: "Facharzt für Plastische und Ästhetische Chirurgie" is a legally protected German specialist title requiring several years of specialist training — unlike general, unprotected descriptions such as "cosmetic surgeon". Second, membership of a medical professional society such as the DGPRÄC (the German Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons), which requires binding professional standards and continuous further training. Third, the quality of the consultation: a reputable practice takes its time, is honest about risks, alternatives and realistically achievable results, and does not push you towards a decision.
